Akure-Ilesa Highway Accident Claims 14 Lives
14 persons have been confirmed dead in an accident that occured at Powerline area, Ipetu Ijesa in Oriade local Government area of Osun State along the Akure-Ilesa highway on Saturday evening.
The public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun State Command, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi gave the information in a statement in Osogbo.
According to the FRSC spokesperson, the accident which was caused by wrongful overtaking involved a golden coloured Sienna Bus with registration number KRD 842 GY and an Ash coloured Howo Sinnotruck with registration number BAU 171 ZE.
Mrs Ogungbemi said the remains of victims of the accident which included 2 females and 4 males children, 4 males and 4 females adult had been deposited at the Wesley Guild Hospital Morgue in Ilesa.
Mrs Ogungbemi appealed to motorists to be weary of speed particularly during this raining season when visibility might be affected during downpour.
A resident of Ipetu Ijesa who spoke to Milestonesnews on telephone noted that it was raining around the time and sudden sound of the accident drew attention of people along the expressway.
