Now, as a proud member of the U.S. Air Force, he’s seizing opportunities to travel and break new ground overseas, turning heads with soulful beats and powerful lyrics that defy expectations.
Rising star Definitely D is redefining the boundaries of Christian hip-hop, proving that authenticity and faith can coexist in the world of rap. Known for his raw lyrics and spiritually charged beats, he’s quickly making waves in both the Christian and mainstream rap scenes. With his blend of personal storytelling and Biblical truths, he’s crafting a unique space where faith, music, and authenticity intersect.
“I always make sure whatever I’m saying is Biblical, but I also want to make sure I can actually rap,” he explains. “I try to strike a balance—throw some bars, throw in some Biblical references, and keep it real.” For him, success in Christian rap means staying true to his faith and his craft while avoiding the clichés that often bog down the genre.
His journey into music began as a way to express himself, but it wasn’t until his personal relationship with God deepened that his music took on a purposeful direction. “I started rapping for fun in 2022,” he recalls
“But as I grew spiritually, I knew I wanted my music to reflect that growth. I wanted to use my platform to speak truth.”
His breakthrough single, 30 Days, quickly turned into a viral hit, earning the attention of producers and fans alike. “The moment people started running up to me saying, ‘Yo, that’s you?’ I realized this was bigger than I expected,” he says. “That’s when I knew I had to take this seriously.” His Air Force service has given him unique opportunities to travel, broadening his horizons and inspiring his creative journey.
Collaborating with top producer Scotty C, Definitely D has connected with a diverse network of talented artists that helped him hone his sound. “I’ve had the chance to work with some of the best producers around,” he explains. “They create music that transcends borders.”It’s this openness to different sounds and styles that has allowed Definitely D to craft a unique sound, blending modern rap with his faith-based messages in a way that resonates with both young listeners and the gospel community. Despite his growing success, he faces many challenges common to Christian artists.
“The biggest obstacle is staying Christ-like in an industry that’s not,” he admits. “It’s tough when you’re surrounded by temptations and distractions, and sometimes it feels like the whole industry is trying to pull you in a different direction.” The pressure to compromise is real, but for Definitely D, his faith keeps him grounded.
“I know where my heart is, and I’m clear about my purpose. It’s about making an impact, not just chasing the money.” The lack of opportunities for Christian artists in certain spaces is another hurdle. “If I were a secular artist, I could perform anywhere,” he says, noting that Christian hip-hop artists often face limited performance venues.
But as a Christian artist, you lose most of those venues because they don’t want to hear what you’re preaching.” Despite this challenge, Definitely D remains optimistic about the future of the genre. “Christian hip-hop is growing, especially among younger people,” he says. “They’re looking for something authentic, and they’re finding it in this space.”
As for the future, he’s just getting started. With a growing fanbase, a unique sound, and a deep commitment to his faith, he’s poised to make a lasting impact on both the Christian and rap music scenes. “It’s not just about making music,” he concludes. “It’s about using this platform to do something that matters—to reach people, change hearts, and show that you can make an impact without compromising who you are.”
